Review of Pure Acoustics MCP-100 Bluetooth Portable Entertainment System

Conclusion

I’ve seen the MCP100 priced as much as $459. At this price point you’ve got to seriously consider what you’ll be doing with it, and how often. It has many uses of course, and perhaps if you’ll be using it semi-professionally it might be all you’ll need – PA, Guitar amp and Karaoke machine in one.

At home too and out and about, as a party machine, it’s perfect to have some fun with but it doesn’t deliver what I’d describe as exceptional sound if all you’ll be doing is listening to music. There are plenty of other options for that purpose of course. It doesn’t by any means sound “bad”, it’s just that I think it could be better.

It’s loud and clear enough in most situations, but the problems I had with crackles and such had me making excuses for it on a number of occasions.

I like the ruggedness of it, and it doesn’t worry me to take it to places where I’d perhaps not take other equipment, although it’s on the heavy side and dragging it over long distances might have you cursing it on occasions. Carting it back and forth like a piece of luggage through forest paths, over rocks and tree roots doesn’t seem to have caused it any harm so far, so top marks for this. I think it’ll last for many years even through some abuse, which gives it a plus point over some other devices, therefore it might actually end up being good value for money.

Buy and enjoy – but buy with consideration of all the above factors.
