TP-LINK Intros 8 Port POE Switch with Power Saving Features

The tagline for this PR is actually TP-LINK Power-Over-Ethernet 8-Port Gigabit Switch Expands Your Gaming Environment With 75% Power Savings and I had to continue reading as I was curious as the gaming part of it. Anyway, it’s an 8 port gigabit switch that promises 75 percent power savings over other switches and that right there has got to be worth it. The model is the TL-SG1008PE and it has an MSRP of $199.99 which is a bit steep, but then again maybe not if it does everything it says it can..

TL-SG1008PE BOX SHOT TL-SG1008PE

TP-LINK, a global provider of networking products, today announced a new Plug-N-Play fully enabled 8-port PoE+ (Power over Ethernet Plus) gigabit desktop/rackmount switch, offering a simple and eco-friendly means to expand an existing wired network.
The TL-SG1008PE transfers electrical power along with data in a single ethernet cable, allowing users to expand their network to hard-to-power locations. The 124W total power budget is perfect for users that need to extend their network to IP surveillance cameras, IP phones, access points, or other PoE+ enabled devices.
Most competing 8-port PoE switches provide power to only four of the eight ports, significantly limiting usability. The TL-SG1008PE expands this limit by supplying power to any IEEE 802.3af/at compliant device across all eight available ports.
The built-in priority function protects the system in the event of a power overload and is intuitively arranged according to the number of each port, one being the highest priority and eight being the lowest. If all connected devices consume power that is greater than or equal to 124W, the switch will cut off power from the lowest-priority port, preserving the functionality of the most essential devices.
With its Plug-N-Play design, no additional configuration or management is required to install the TL-SG1008PE. It can be placed on a desktop or fitted to any standard 1U rack with its 13-inch steel case. Its innovative, energy efficient design can save up to 75% of the power usage, making it a great choice for people looking for an easy to use, eco-friendly, fully enabled 8-Port PoE+ network.
TL-SG1008PE Highlights:
* 8 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 ports
* Equipped with 8 fully enabled PoE+ ports
* Compatible with IEEE 802.3af/at compliant devices
* Plug-N-Play design, no configuration required
* Built in port-priority function to safeguard against power overloads
* Innovative energy-efficient technology reduces power output by up to 75%
The TL-SG1008PE has an MSRP of $199.99 and is already available at retail and online locations. For more information see:
