I want a Windows 8 tablet, just to see what the fuss is all about. I’ve heard very good things about them, but I just don’t have the disposable cash right now for one. Anyway, starting tomorrow you can get the ASUS VivoTab RT Windows 8 tablet from AT&T for only $500, that’s after promotions. You’ll also get a mobile dock and extra battery ! Not a bad deal, but you’ll need to get a 2yr data plan with it.

AT&T* and ASUS today announced the ASUS VivoTab RT, a new tablet designed for Windows 8, will be available for customers beginning Nov. 16 for $499.99 after exclusive holiday promotions, including a free Mobile Dock with a keyboard and additional battery. AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer the new LTE capable tablet from ASUS this holiday shopping season.  For a limited time, AT&T customers will receive a $100 off the ASUS VivoTab RT, after purchasing any Windows smartphone and an additional $100 off any tablet, purchased at an AT&T company owned store or online at www.att.com with a two-year data plan agreement.1

“The ASUS VivoTab RT will give consumers and business customers an optimized touch interface and live tile updates with PC capabilities,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, AT&T Emerging Devices. “With this tablet, we’re giving customers the opportunity to connect the first Windows RT tablet with 4G LTE connectivity, and for as low as $10 per month, with AT&T’s new Mobile Share plans. It’s portable and very affordable.”

“We are very excited to work closely with AT&T to bring the first 4G LTE capable Windows RT tablet to the North American market,” said Jerry Shen, ASUS CEO. “Our goal is to drive product innovation through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy and deliver an immersive user experience. We believe the innovative ASUS VivoTab RT and mobile dock are the best choice for consumers and business customers to connect while on-the-go with the AT&T 4G LTE network.”

At just 0.33 inches thin and weighing just 1.18lbs, VivoTab™ RT is one of the lightest, thinnest tablets available and features a stunning metallic design.  With a powerful NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core processor and 12-core graphics, VivoTab™ RT delivers exceptional performance with Windows apps and an immersive mobile gaming experience. VivoTab™ RT features a high-resolution 10.1″ (1366×768) Super IPS+ display that offers a remarkably vivid and brilliant viewing experience of photos, videos and more.

VivoTab™ RT features a 2MP front camera for instant photos or HD video conferencing with friends, or family while an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and auto-focus takes stunning photos or 1080P HD video recording.  ASUS SonicMaster audio technology, developed with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower, produces crystal clear sound with a wide sound stage, increased audio fidelity, and distinct vocal enhancements.

VivoTab RT features an optional mobile dock (sold separately; bundled free for a limited time) that allows for increased productivity and longer battery life. When docked, VivoTab RT becomes an ultra-portable device with keyboard, multi-touch touchpad and USB port, plus up to 15 hours use with the dock’s built-in battery. VivoTab RT with Windows RT comes preloaded with Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview for productivity at home and on the move. With its innovative tablet and mobile dock design, VivoTab RT delivers an excellent combination of performance and portability, both for work and play.

AT&T customers have access to the nation’s largest 4G network, covering 285 million people. AT&T has two 4G networks that work together for customers, LTE and HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul. That means AT&T customers are able to enjoy a widespread, ultra-fast and consistent 4G experience on their compatible device as they move in and out of LTE areas.2 With other carriers, when you travel outside of their LTE coverage area, you may be on a much slower 3G network.

Customers purchasing Windows 8 tablets from AT&T have more options in choosing the plan that’s right for them and their mobile devices. With new AT&T Mobile Share plans, new and existing customers can share a single bucket of data across smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices. AT&T Mobile Share allows customers to build a plan to fit their devices and usage. For as low as $10 per month, customers can connect the ASUS VivoTab RT 4G LTE tablet with AT&T’s new Mobile Share plans. Customers can select one of the new shared data plans or choose one of AT&T’s existing individual or family plans.3

The ASUS VivoTab RT will be available in AT&T company-owned retail stores nationwide and online at www.wireless.att.com.
